The Monarch

The Monarch

One warm and sunny Christmas day,
A Monarch butterfly sailed away.
Her wings sun kissed, her colours bright,
She’d been transformed in the night.

For like the babe on Christmas morn,
The time was right to be reborn.
A bright new flame to light the way,
This warm and sunny Christmas Day.

Forever Together

If we could be together
Would you hold me close
So I can hear your breath?

If we could be together,
Would you take my hand
And wipe away my tears?

If we could be together,
Would you keep me filled
With overflowing love?

If we cannot be together. Ever.
Will you slip into my heart
So I can feel you there,

I wish that I could disappear,

A week a month perhaps a year.

Discover what it’s like to be,

Stripped of everything. Just me.

Would I discover strength or shame?

With no-one else for me to blame.

Would my mind play tricks with me?

My ego scorn this urge to flee?

Or would I find a different song,

One where God and I belong.

A song of love; that helps let go,

My ego’s need to steal the show.

He loves me, he loves me not
A tear begins to form.

He loves me, he loves me not
A seed of fear is born.

He loves me, he loves me not
My heart will not settle.

He loves me, he loves me not!
I crush the fragile petal.

What if he never loves me?
My brokenness won’t mend.

I pick another daisy
And start the count again.

He loves me. He loves me!
Joy becomes a sigh.

For just a tiny spark of hope
A flower had to die.
